The "Iron Man" video game will feature the voices of Robert, Terence Howard and Shaun Toub. The game launches the same day as the movie on May 2, 2008.

Paramount has pushed back the release of "Tropic Thunder" to August 15 instead of the previously announced July 11.

"Iron Man" will be presented at WonderCon, San Francisco, on February 23. Director Jon Favreau will appear on stage to discuss bringing the superhero to the big screen.

Just as last year, Robert is one of the stars featured in Vanity Fair's Hollywood issue (March). This year the magazine recreates scenes from classic Alfred Hitchcock movies. Robert and Gwyneth Paltrow play Grace Kelly and Cary Grant in "To Catch A Thief".

Robert's will be honored with the "Male Star of the Year" award at ShoWest's closing night ceremony in Las Vegas on March 13.

Actor William Hurt reveals in an interview with MTV that Robert will appear as Tony Stark/Iron Man in a surprise scene in the up-coming "The Incredible Hulk". Quote: "I have a scene with Iron Man, with Robert Downey Jr. It's a funky scene."

According to Variety, "Iron Man" is one of around eight movie commercials that are scheduled to air during February's Super Bowl at a record $2.7 million per 30-second spot.

If his filming schedule allows, Robert will be a presenter at the Entertainment Gathering conference on December 2 to 4. The event is held at the Getty Center in Los Angeles.

Update December 20: Nothing so far has indicated that he was there.

Robert is set to star with Jamie Foxx in the fact-based drama "The Soloist". Steve Lopez (Downey) was a Los Angeles Times columnist who discovered Nathaniel Ayers (Foxx), a homeless man who was a skillful violinist. Joe Wright is directing. Shooting begins in January 2008.

The "Charlie Bartlett" release, originally set to August 3, 2007, has been pushed back to avoid the heavy competition from other big summer film premieres in the US.

Robert helped "Iron Man" director Jon Favreau to promote the "Dinner for Five" series DVD release on Amazon with a video taped table conversation.

Robert and Jay Baruchel have signed on to star in the Ben Stiller-helmed comedy "Tropic Thunder". Shooting is set to start in July.

Robert is included in Vanity Fair's annual Hollywood edition (March) where a big group of stars are photographed by Annie Leibovitz and Michael Roberts in a film noir like setting covering 33 pages.

Robert, Sting and other celebrities will read poems on Jonathan Elias' upcoming album "Prayer Cycle 2". For the album Elias also envisions exotic instruments and singers using traditional song to ask a higher being for peace and protection from nuclear war.

Robert is in the process of writing his autobiography, promised to be a candid look at the highs and lows of his life. The book will be published by Harper Entertainment in 2008.

Update April 28, 2008: According to an interview in The Seattle Times the book has been put on hold: "I gave 'em back their money and said maybe another time."

In January a press release about another film and actor also mentioned that Robert had a part in "Me, Miami and Nancy". No other information was available and still isn't, other than that it was filmed in 2004 and is apparently not released yet. A few days ago, a video turned up at YouTube which proves Robert is indeed featured in it.

Robert is narrating a two hour long Charlie Chaplin documentary on BBC Radio 2 with "a brand new perspective on the colourful life of one of cinema's most enduring personalities." The first part airs on November 29 and the second part on December 6.

The wedding took place 6:30 p.m on Saturday, August 27, in Amagansett, Long Island, New York, at the Windy Dunes estate under a gazebo built for the occasion. Around 150 guests attended, among them Keanu Reeves, Billy Joel (who sang 'Just The Way You Are' at the ceremony) and Sting. After the ceremony, the celebration continued with dinner on red and gold accented tables topped with exotic greenery, while Sting and Billy Joel performed under a clear-topped tent so the guests could enjoy the sunset. The rehearsal dinner Friday night was held at the East Hampton Point Restaurant. On Sunday, the newlyweds threw an informal Sunday brunch for about 100 guests at JL East in the Hamptons where they enjoyed crepes, fruits, veggies and fish.

In July it was reported that Robert would appear in the new TLC reality series "Miami Ink", about a tattoo parlor in South Beach. The show premiered on July 19, but as of yet we haven't heard of anyone spotting him in it.

Fans around the world celebrates Robert's birthday today. Several fansites and groups joined forces to arrange that a package was sent to him containing a book with birthday messages and a donation to The Sam Vance Foundation. Read more on the special birthday site.

Guiding Rights Blog reports that Robert has recovered the domain name www.robertdowneyjr.com, which was previously used to redirect Internet user to a site with pornographic content. The decision based relief on Downey's common law rights in his name, stating: "Famous people using their name in trade and commerce can have a common law trade mark in their public name. The Panel accepts the Complainant’s contention that the Complainant’s longstanding involvement in the motion picture and television industries has resulted in the 'Robert Downey Jr.' name becoming unquestionably associated, in the public’s mind, with the Complainant."

Robert's CD sold 16.000 copies during its first week, which landed it as #121 on the Billboard albums chart.

The album is at present time #13 at the Amazon.com best sellers list.

To promote Fox Sports Net's local NBA coverage, TBWA has produced a campaign that features a talking basketball with the voice of Robert Downey Jr. It's a story of a man and his best friend - a basketball - who helps the main character, Harold, through life's daily grind. It gives him advice, challenges him, and is there for him at all times. The campaign is set to launch this weekend.

Sony Classical have launched an official Robert Downey Jr music site, www.robertdowneyjrmusic.com where you can hear samples from his album "The Futurist".

After having been signed with International Creative Management (ICM) for many years, Robert has now switched to a new agent; Creative Artists Agency (CAA). Robert's former ICM agent, Nick Styne, moved to CAA about a year ago and was expected to bring his high profile clients with him.

In the August 22 issue of the Sunday Times Magazine (UK), there's a 1 1/2 page photo of Robert by Sam Taylor-Wood included in a feature called "Men Behaving Sadly". The photo will also be published in Sam's new book "Crying Men" in September. It was taken at a photo shoot in Robert's home in 2002 and a similar picture was published in GQ in November that year as part of Sam's photo series "Portraits of Sorrow".

Robert is starring in a Volvo 'straight-to-Internet' minifeature directed by Stephen Frears. The feature was shot in Inyokern, CA, just before Christmas. Tomboy Films Ltd. incorporated nearly a dozen nearby locations, including Brown Road and Sierra Cocktails, in the film. The film crew also converted a former auto repair shop into "The Mole Hole". These lucky Inyokern kids had an opportunity to meet Robert Downey Jr. while he was filming a commercial for Volvo in Inyokern. Deana Anderson of Inyokern said, "When the kids asked for a picture, he was very eager to let us photograph him. He introduced himself to them (the children), and commented that M&M candy was one of his favorite candies, too. Upon leaving, he wished them happy holidays, and told them to be good."

It's official. Robert and film producer Susan Levin, who met during the filming of "Gothika" in April, are engaged to be married. Robert broke the news when interviewed on "The Frank Skinner Show" in London on November 9. We wish them all the best and a big CONGRATULATIONS!

Reader's Digest is conducting a poll of the '104 funniest films ever'. "Soapdish" (1991) is nominated.

A soundtrack will be released around the time of the film premiere. Although the characters mostly lip-synchs in the music numbers, Robert does sing himself in the closing credits ("In My Dreams"). He also plays the piano on the soundtrack and does his own backing vocals. A music video is currently being cut from the song but it's not decided yet what Paramount Classics will ultimately do with it.

Robert participates in a short film called "Auto Motives". The 13-minute film world premiered at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado, February 2000, as a part of their 'short program'. Synopsis: "A sideways glance at the way automobiles factor in the dynamics of human behavior." Cast members includes James Cameron, Robert Downey Jr, Josh Hopkins, Michael Imperiolli, Allison Janney, Melissa Mcarthy, Jim Rash, Ed Ruotolo, Ray Ruotolo, Octavia Spencer, Tate Taylor, Moon Zappa, Pat Devine, and Scott Gorman. Directing debut by Lorraine Bracco, who also wrote the script.

Just as last year, Robert was very much involved in the Silver Lake benefit for the Hollywood-Sunset Free Clinic and had already begun with getting it organized. Sadly, the Clinic had to cancel the event this year due to a loss of funding, budget cuts etc.

The A&E Network presented Biography.com's The 15 Sexiest People this evening. Robert came in as #6. The list was compiled from 75.000 votes in an on-line poll on their website. Here's a few comments made on the show about Robert:

According to the COOKIES "Better Together" survey conducted by Harris Interactive, who would be best fit to play the new boyfriend of Carrie Bradshaw, Sarah Jessica Parker's character, on Sex in the City? Brad Pitt outdistanced such formidable competitors as Robert Downey, Jr., Rob Lowe and Matthew Perry. One-in-five (20%) of those queried concluded that the role was a perfect fit for Pitt, while Downey, Jr. followed with 18%, nipping Lowe and Perry (17%).

Robert attended the Paramount Pictures 90th anniversary celebration in Hollywood on July 14 with 90 of Hollywood's most famous celebrities. A big group photo from the event can be found in the October issue of Vanity Fair.

After it had been reported that actor Rob Lowe was to leave the popular TV series "West Wing", USAToday set up a poll to see who the viewers would like to see replace him. Robert won, which was also mentioned on Extra.

Artist Sam Taylor-Wood has released a book about her work. Robert's on the cover with a photo from the 'I Want Love' video that Sam directed. There's a chapter in the book about the work Sam and Robert have done together, the I Want Love video, and the Pieta art video. Plenty of photos as well.

Creater/writer of "Ally McBeal", David E. Kelley, announced on April 17 that the show has been cancelled. The season 5 May finale will be the last episode. "It's sad to say goodbye to something you love, even when perhaps it is time," Kelley said.

As a Valentine special, E-online rank "Two Girls and a Guy" as #6 among movies with the best sex-scenes. Quote: "Sure, it rates high on the shock-o-meter, but that's because you feel like a voyeur to something authentic - and taboo."

From New York Daily News: Who needs the Radio City Music Hall stage when you can perform in its rest room instead? That was the thinking when Sting, Hugh Jackman, Robert Downey Jr. and Anjelica Huston arrived to do a photo shoot for Harper's Bazaar the other day. Sting's wife, Trudie Styler, the director of the shoot, led them all into the masterpiece of Art Deco style that serves as the Music Hall's lounge. A baby grand was brought in, and everyone commenced to sing - culminating with a full-force rendition of "Oklahoma". (Photos will be published Harper's Bazaar's March issue.)

New York Post: Trudie Styler is wed to rock superstar Sting. She is said to be having top secret meetings with Robert Downey Jr. and Dito Montiel, former cover boy and Calvin Klein underwear model, regarding a film of the latter's autobiography, titled "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints". If everything works out, they say Trudie will produce. Downey's interest? He brought her the project, is working on a rewrite, might do a cameo in the film and hopes to direct.

It was reported on TV Guide Online today, that Robert's publicist, Mr. Alan Nierob, is denying widespread rumors that Robert would return to "Ally McBeal" in May. He says; "There are no plans for him to return at this point." A representative from "Ally McBeal" says; "While the show is fond of him and has never ruled out his returning, there are no plans to have him return in May or any other time this season."

The burberry jacket Robert wore as 'Larry Paul' in "Ally McBeal" season 4, episode Falling Up, was auctioned out on eBay, signed and personalized by Robert. Proceeds from the auction was forwarded to The New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund. The jacket was sold for $3.100.01.

Robert's recording of Joni Mitchell's song "River" is featured in a CBS TV ad/public service announcemet from Circuit City called "Message from America". It was first shown during the Thanksgiving parade, and the song is played in the background while showing American soldiers in the desert over seas, decorating their tents with Christmas ornaments. Those who've seen it says it's very touching.

Comment from Circuit City customer support: "Robert Downey, Jr. is an amazing talent who can both act and sing. When we heard this rendention of Joni Mitchel's "River" we were moved by it and it creatively fit perfectly into the video being produced. This track was a perfect fit for the story we wanted to tell. We share the concerns of may for Mr. Downey's health issues, and hope he can overcome them and will continue to share his talents in the future."

Robert and artist Sam Taylor-Wood first met when she filmed and directed the Elton John video, "I Want Love". Robert is to appear in her artwork. In a video piece called "Pieta", Robert will be held/carried by Sam in the manner of Michelangelo's famous religious pieta in the Vatican in Rome. According to White Cube 2, the London gallery that will display the artwork, "Pieta presents relations of dependency, nurture and support, distilling a sense of peace and calm." The piece is one of a new exhibition of video works by Sam and is to be called "Mute".

"Ally McBeal", season 4, will be released on DVD in Europe on December 5.

According to New York Post, Robert just optioned the rights to Dito Montiel's book, "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints", about Montiel's journey to New York to start a band.

Women's Image Network, a nonprofit formed to dispel media sexism by increasing the number of women's stories in film and television, announced its nominees for the 2001 WIN Awards. The Third Annual WinFemme Film Festival and the WIN Awards will be held at the Clarity Theatre in Beverly Hills on September 9, 2001.

Women's Image Network: "The WIN awards for the first time will go to films and TV shows nominated for telling women's stories well. Robert Downey, Jr. was nominated in the 'Comedy Series' category, an "Ally McBeal" episode entitled The Last Virgin, for his work with Calista Flockhart. He convinced her to let her guard down and let him in her heart."

Robert stars in Elton John's new music video, "I Want Love", the first single from Elton's new CD "Songs From the West Coast". The album will be on the stands October 2. The video was shot at the Greystone Manor in Beverly Hills, where Sam Taylor-Wood directed Robert as he lip-synchs to Elton's singing.

Reuters: The final appearance of actor Robert Downey Jr. on "Ally McBeal'' Monday boosted that series to its best ratings since February, helping Fox win easily in key demos for the second night in a row. 'Ally' topped CBS' second-place comedies by a combined 2 shares in adults 18-49 and gave the series rare year-to-year ratings growth. It teamed with a time slot victory in adults 18-49 for "Boston Public" to give Fox the night by 3 shares in the coveted demographic and help pull the network into a second-place tie for the May sweep.

According to the Amazon.com Top Sellers list, the CD is ranked #1.

Vanessa Redgrave and Robert Downey Jr. will receive the inaugural Outfest Screen Idol Awards, an extension of the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival Outfest, to be held July 12-23 in L.A. The duo will be feted for their performances as gay characters in "If These Walls Could Talk 2" (Redgrave) and "Wonder Boys" (Downey). The awards were created to honor performances by an actor or actress in a gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered role in a feature film or television movie. Nominees were determined by members of Outfest. Redgrave and Downey were selected by a national online vote that began on March 14; more than 5,000 ballots were cast.

Entertainment Tonight did a segment on the latest issue of Vanity Fair. The magazine contains a special photo section titled Legends of Hollywood. Showing a photo of Robert from this issue, they said: "Robert Downey Jr. was photographed perched high on top of a building in downtown Los Angeles." Vanity Fair Features Editor, Jane Sarkin, said: "There was no railing there, nothing. He took a big chance on this shoot, and I think everyone that picks up this magazine will get something out of it they absolutely love and they will never forget."

According to a press release, Robert has signed on to do 8 more "Ally McBeal" episodes.

Yesterday, radio stations across America got a copy of "Chances Are", sung by Robert and Vonda Shepard. It's remixed a bit but similar to the one heard on "Ally McBeal" episode The Ex-Files. Call your local station and get them to PLAY IT! On Feb. 5th episode of 'Ally' they also announced that this song would be included on a CD called "For Once In My Life", to be released in the spring.

Fox confirmed that Robert has completed filming his arc of episodes on "Ally McBeal" without ruling out future appearances." This means Robert has completed the episodes he had originally signed on for. It also means he's welcome back to the show if he wants to continue.

Larry & Ally (Robert and Calista Flockhart) won the American TV Guide's special poll Best TV Couple 2000.

Production continues on "Ally McBeal", and Fox expect that Robert will be with them through Ally's 12th episode of the season as per his agreement, says spokesman Chris Alexander today. Robert is signed to do 10 episodes and is in the midst of shooting his ninth. His character is written out after the show's 12th episode, with the door open for him to return.

"Wonder Boys" is being re-released in the US on October 20. This is much earlier than what we've heard before, which was a November release.

Robert is going to star in the well known TV series "Ally McBeal" in eight episodes beginning on October 23. He will have a recurring role, playing a mysterious stranger who seems able to connect with the complicated Ally and becomes her love interest. The series creator, David E Kelley, says; "We're thrilled. We've admired his work for years and know he'll make an enormous contribution."
