  • 6 cups bread flour

  5. Bake in preheated oven for 35 minutes, or until golden brown.

Mom’s Zucchini Bread Recipe

This is my MASTER zucchini recipe for mom. No need to look further. I’ve tried couple of Zucchini recipes, and this one is among the BEST.

I do half and half oil/applesauce and substitute and reduce to 2 cups of sugar – plenty sweet! ( warning: usually less sugar is more healthy )

Anyway, 1 cup brown sugar for the white. The brown sugar adds so much more richness and depth of flavor than just using all white sugar. I did start using at least 3 cups of zucchini. It melts and disappears into the bread and all you end up tasting is the cinnamon. So 3-4 cups is best, with true zucchini flavor. It won’t be green, trust me. No nuts needed or draining/squeezing out the zucchini either. The water adds to the moistness of the bread. 55 min. cook time for me. I did 60 min. the first time and it wasn’t as moist.

Alright, here is the original recipe submitted by vmonte:

Ingredients To Prepare:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 1/4 cups white sugar
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups grated zucchini
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Step By Step Instructions:

  1. Grease and flour two 8 x 4 inch pans.
  2. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  3. Sift flour, salt, baking powder, soda, and cinnamon together in a bowl.
  4. Beat eggs, oil, vanilla, and sugar together in a large bowl.
  5. Add sifted ingredients to the creamed mixture, and beat well.
  6. Stir in zucchini and nuts until well combined. Pour batter into prepared pans.
  7. Bake for 40 to 60 minutes, or until tester inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool in pan on rack for 20 minutes. Remove bread from pan, and completely cool.

Best Bread Machine – Bread Machine Reviews

Do you like bread so much that you can eat it every day, day after day? Do you hold high standards for the bread you eat, that it must be tasty, fresh, and healthy (made without preservatives)? Yes, now you can have homemade bread, freshly made every day.

Hi there! I’m John, welcome to my best bread machine & bread machine reviews blog. What beats fresh, warm bread for breakfast? The answer is nothing, not even toast!

Many people still think that bread must be baked the old-fashioned way, kneading the dough by hand, letting it rise, and then baking it in the oven, but it takes too much time and effort for working families to do that at home. There’s a better way of doing it. Let bread be kneaded and baked in the bread machine or bread maker while you sleep the night away, then wake up to a lovely breakfast already!

How to Choose the Best Bread Machine

Even though I love baking by hand, I thought that to be able to make your own healthy loaves by just measuring ingredients and pressing a few buttons is the greatest thing since sliced bread. So here’s how you start – by choosing the best bread machine that will help you do that.

Vertical or Horizontal

Some bread machines are tall (vertical) while some are long (horizontal). It depends on what shape you like your loaf to be. If you like a horizontal loaf that looks like the usual store-bought bread, pick a long bread machine.

Also, consider if it fits in your kitchen. Think about height clearance if you have wall cabinets. If space is a problem you would want to look for a compact bread machine or one with a small footprint.

Size Of Loaves

The bread machine makes loaves from 1 lb to 2.5 lb. Some of the bread makers allow you to choose different sizes to bake. Don’t buy one that is too large because homemade bread does not last as long as store brought bread due to its lack of preservatives, but it’s okay to choose a slightly larger size than what your family usually eats because you’ll be sure to eat more of that delicious homemade bread!

  • Best Bread Machines By Size
  • Small bread machine – 1 lb
  • Medium bread machine – 2 lb
  • Large bread machine – 2.5 lb
  • Flexible size bread machine – 1 lb, 1.5 lb, or 2 lb

Settings

Always check the settings of the model you are intending to buy. The specifications are quite important, because they will determine what you can or cannot do with your bread machine. Here are some of the useful settings to have in your bread machine:

  • Delay timer – Place ingredients in bread maker, set for a delay start and go to bed. Wake up to fresh bread!
  • Dough setting – Use this setting to knead dough in the machine, then you can shape it into buns or pizza to be baked in your own oven.
  • Window – For the diligent user who likes to check on the bread.
  • Quick bake – Faster bread!
  • Pre-programmed bread cycles – For making different types of bread like whole wheat, French bread, gluten-free and even cake.

Easy Cleaning

Make sure the bread machine has a non stick pan so that the loaf slides out cleanly. It will also be easier to clean if the lid and kneading paddle(s) are removable.

Warranty & Durability

The last thing to check for is a good warranty and servicing options to safeguard your investment should anything go wrong.

Which LCD Plasma Wall Bracket Is Right For Me?

A lot of people ask this question. Plasma televisions are the most popular type of TV available today and this comes as no surprise. The benefits of these television sets – including high resolution, lifelike picture, no scan lines, widescreen aspect ratio, and perfectly flat screen – along with an affordable price make it easy to see why so many people have turned to plasmas.

Deciding on and buying a plasma television is one thing but once you get it home you need to mount it and this is something different altogether. This means you have to choose the right plasma wall bracket.

This depends more than anything on how you want to watch your TV. If you want to have it aiming downwards at an angle the ceiling mount would work best. For instance, this amount would be used to mount a TV in the den pointing down towards the bar or in the bathroom so you can watch TV or movies while you soak in the tub.

The swivel mount is enough if you want to mount the television level but be able to swivel it back and forth. These are typically used for smaller televisions as the larger-sized models would be too hard to turn back and forth. You do not want to risk having the television drop and get damaged if it is too heavy for your mount.

Another plasma wall bracket to consider is known as the pop-up mount. This is a really unique idea for mounting your new TV. Have you ever thought of having a television in the bedroom but still wanted to keep the room romantic? With one of these pop-up brackets, you can literally have your television mounted right on the footboard of your bed.

You can press a remote and have the television come up for movies and television at night when you are in the mood but then you can also fold it back down when you do not want to see it.

Choosing the right plasma tv wall brackets is important to ensure you get the most enjoyable television and movie viewing experience.

Why Use Chimney Cowls?

Chimney cowls were a great innovation to how chimneys function in homes today. They were invented centuries ago and still remain in popular use today. They are the little toppers that you see in chimneys. Many people assume that they are for mere decoration and serve no real purpose; however, this is not the case. Cowls serve the very important function of blocking wind from entering the chimney. Normally the updraft from the fire in the chimney is enough to prevent air from moving back in the other direction. Sometimes this is not the case, however. Sometimes gusts of wind are so powerful that they could overpower the updraft and fill the person’s house with smoke and soot. That was particularly a cause for concern back when most people used coal to heat their homes because there was a great deal of smoke produced.

These cowls now come in a variety of shapes and sizes. There are cowls that have flaps that open to allow smoke out. There are also cowls that work like turbines slowly filtering out the smoke with every turn. There are many different designs for cowls but they all suit the same purpose.

Cowls can be purchased at a variety of different outlets. Hardware stores have them, and of course, specialty fireplace and wood stove places will also have them. There are many online places you can buy one of these cowls.

A chimney cowl is just one of the many innovations from the past that still help to make the future a better place. They were invented before most of the technology we have and yet they are still in widespread use. These cowls help to make the fireplaces that many homes have a possibility. Cowls should be purchased for every chimney in your home to ensure the safe and long-lived operation of your fireplace or woodstove.

Adding Acoustic Insulation in an Existing Space

There are many reasons why you may be considering the installation of acoustic insulation panels in a specific room of your home.  The most popular reason is sound is coming from an exterior space and causing you or someone else to lose sleep.  The second most popular reason is you want to keep the sound that is being created inside of a room from getting out to other parts of your home or outside of your home.  Such soundproof insulation would be perfect for a home theater or a bedroom where you want to keep sounds in or keep most sounds out.

Installation of acoustic sound insulation is best when done during construction.  You many more options of products and materials since the interior of the walls are open and exposed.  Insulation materials such as spray foam and batts can easily be installed easily and more thoroughly.  Adding insulation in an existing room or space is a bit more difficult especially if your walls are not insulated or lack the right amount and type of insulation, to begin with.  You should start by first determining if any insulation is present at all.  You will need to open a small hole in the wall to see what is behind the drywall.  If some insulation is present, it may not be sufficient or the right kind.  Gaps or open spaces in wall insulation allow for some sound to still get through.

To remedy poorly insulated walls, you will need to decide if you want to remove the drywall altogether and install the right amount or type of insulation or if you want to simply spray in more insulation to make sure all crevices are filled.  Spray foam insulation can be sprayed into the wall cavity easily with the right equipment and very little damage to the existing drywall.  Holes will need to be created in strategic locations where insulation is needed.

Other soundproofing remedies may include the addition of insulation beneath your floor treatments, a denser door, double-paned windows, and if all of that still doesn’t cut it, then you should also consider adding some sound absorption paneling on the walls.   The panels help absorb sound.  Acoustic insulation materials are perfect for a home theater room and can be installed on the walls, floors, and even the ceiling if needed.

Black Mold Prevention: Tips for Preventing Black Mold

Black mold, or Stachybotrys, is one of the more dangerous types of mold. Millions of homeowners around the world have had problems with mold growth in their homes. The mold appears as a slimy, greenish-black substance and tends to develop in moist areas of the home.

Although this type of mold is not typically considered as being life-threatening, it can be dangerous if left untreated. Exposure can result in anything from immune system suppression, dry and hacking cough, memory impairment, and skin rashes to food intolerances, irritable bowel syndrome, and allergies.

Taking steps to prevent mold is very important. Especially if you have already dealt with a mold problem in your home, it is crucial to take preventative measures. One of the most important steps is to keep an eye on the walls in damp rooms of the home. Downstairs dens, basements, and other rooms are the most commonly affected by mold growth.

If you ever see even just a few spots of mold growth, you still must act immediately. Often people neglect mold issues when they see there is only a bit of growth and this can be the worst move you make. Before you know it you could end up with a full-blown mold problem and be over your head.

Use a dehumidifier in areas of the home you notice are damp. This is a small machine that uses hardly any power and which will help by keeping the moisture out of the area. Even if you only turn it on through the day and turn it off before going to bed at night, it will help prevent the growth of mold.

Proper mold prevention is important whether you have already dealt with a toxic black mold problem or not. Once areas in your home begin developing mold, it is already too late and proper treatment must be taken. By doing everything you can to prevent black mold it is much to your own benefit. These are the most important tips to help with black mold prevention now and in the future.

Identify Water Damage In the Home Early

There’s more to repairing water damage in the home than simply painting over the damaged wall or ceiling and continuing on your merry way. Unfortunately, the problem will persist if you don’t take the necessary measures to actually identify the source of the water damage and do something to stem the flow of water.

Water damage can come from any number of sources such as condensation, melting ice, a leaky roof, or a faulty water pipe. The water damage can go unnoticed for long periods of time and only becomes apparent when the build-up is so large you’re beginning to see staining on the walls, ceilings, or floors. By this time you can pretty well be assured that the damage is going to be extensive and probably expensive.

It is possible to do your own repairs when it comes to water-damaged drywall or to a hardwood floor that has been damaged. But the safest course of action is to call in the professionals such as a water damage remediation expert and get them to take a look at the problem. These experts are going to be well equipped to identify the problem and will then be able to attack the clean-up with the background of many years of experience having done it all before.

Minor water damage, as long as the source has been identified and solved, can be cleaned up on your own. This may be achieved by going through a process of completely drying the affected area before performing the necessary repairs. This may involve a small replacement of the drywall or of operating a dehumidifier overnight, both of which will help get you on the way to putting the home back in order.

You can’t always identify problems lurking behind walls, ceilings, and floors but you may be able to pick up changes in the atmosphere. Constant dampness in the air may be an early indicator that something is amiss in the home.

There is no need to be completely paranoid about possible water damage but you should be prepared to investigate thoroughly to catch it early before a small problem becomes a much larger one.
